Diamond Saw Blade Operating Safety Instruction

Diamond saw blade can be cut the hardest stone and concrete. However it all depends on how the blade is mounted and used. If improperly mounted or incorrectly used, these can be very dangerous and can cause serious injuries.

Diamond circular blades transport and storage

    1. Diamond blades are easily damaged must be handled and transported with care.

    2. Do remove the diamond blades from the machine during transit to prevent accidental damage.

    3. Diamond cutting blades must be stored in dry conditions in special racks or containers.

Diamond cutting blades general safety measures

    1. In order to guarantee safety and best cutting performance the operator must read and understand and follow the instruction manual before operating.

    2. No one should attempt to operate any power equipment unless they are familiar with its operation and they have authorization to do so.

    3. Students must have a full orientation and must be supervised while operating any of the machine tools.

    4. Do not work with power machinery unless another person is in the near vicinity.

Appropriate selection of the diamond blades

    1. In order to guarantee safety and best cutting performance the operator must read and understand and follow the instruction manual before operating.

    2. Ensure that the diamond blades are suitable for the application and have the correct dimensions.

    3. Check that the maximum RPM of the machine spindle on which you will mount the diamond blades, never exceeds the maximum RPM printed on the label or on the product. The speed should be reduced by 20-30% from the Max. RPM while cutting different materials.

    4. Don’t use your blade on metals or other unsuitable materials.

    Mounting Diamond saw blades

    1. Only mount the diamond blades on machines designed for the operation.

    2. The arrow indicating the direction of rotation must be identical on the blades and on the machine.

    3. Only mount the diamond blades with proper flanges supplied with the handheld machine and ensure they are clean and check both plates are the same diameter. Flanges should never e modified. The bore hole of the blade rust fit the machine spindle without play. Check diamond blade nuts for tightness.

    4. Don’t force blade on blade shaft or mount blade on undersized spindle.

Inspection and testing prior before using the blades

    1. Check the machinery thoroughly before using it, prior to starting it up.

    2. Carefully inspects the blades; never use worn or damaged diamond blades.

    Diamond Saw blade Test-run

    1. Before cutting.

      1. Keep your fingers clear of all cutting tools or moving devices.

      2. Never uses your bare hands to remove chips, shavings, or other material from your work. Use a brush or push stick.

      3. Work pieces shall be firmly secured or clamped before starting work.

      4. Operators should stand away from and to the side of the blade when in use.

      5. Do ensure that the blade is in balance and running true. A blade which is out of balance means increased wear and even possible destruction of the saw.

      6. Do ensure that the machine bearings and spindle are not worn otherwise blade life will be reduced.

      7. Do inspect blades frequently to detect cracks or undercutting of the steel core and segments which could lead to segment loss.

      8. Do tightens drive belts to ensure full available power.

      9. Do use drive pin if fitted to the machine.

      10. Don’t operate machine with damaged or open blade guard.

    2. While cutting

      1. Make a steady cut don’t apply pressure and force to your diamond blade. Increased pressure means Increased wear and overheat. Avoid hard contact and knocks Do use the blade with a gentle reciprocating motion especially when cutting hard materials and cut in the direction of the arrow. Never bend the blade out of the line during cutting. Do avoid tilting the blade when cutting in the material. The cutting blade must not be used for curve or circle cutting or grinding do ensure that the blade cuts parallel to the wheel axis. The blades must not be allowed to get jammed while cutting.

      2. Ensure that the diamond blades do not get too hot while cutting. If the blades gets overheated remove them from the cut and allow cooling. Try to use water as a coolant. Prevent blade to get over heated even it is marked as dry cutting.

      3. Don’t adjust machine when it is running. Never alter the RPM or machine settings, without consulting the machine manufacturer. If the blades become blunt, cut brick or sandstone or abrasive wheel to resharpen.

      4. For wet cutting do ensure to use correct amount of water and adequate water supply to both sides of the blade.

      5. Be careful to avoid burns from the overheated segments or hot engine parts.

    The Saw Blade measures

    1. Remove ties, rings, watches and other jewellery. Long hair should be tied back and loose sleeves shirts not be worn. Do not wear gloves when operating a huffing, grinding or polishing wheel.

    2. Make sure the wheel guards are in place and properly adjusted and tightened.

    3. Do not raise protective shield from around blade when operating saw.

    4. The operator must use personal protection equipment such as safety glasses under a face shield, leather gloves, masks protective goggles, head cover and safety shoes.

    5. Do not touch the work piece until you are sure that it is cool.

    6. Never leave machine unattended with the engine running. Shut off engine when not in use; do not leave until the wheel has come to a complete stop.

    7. Stop the machine immediately if some odd noise or vibration develops. Investigate the source of the problem and do not operate the equipment until the trouble has been corrected.
